Why I built LucidLaw

I'm Jarrod Osborn. I live in Adelaide. I'm not a lawyer.
I've spent years around contracts, property and small business deals. What struck me is how often ordinary people are in the wrong not because they broke a rule, but because nobody told them what the rule was. The information exists. It's just written for lawyers.
So people either pay for advice they can't really afford, or they guess. Most guess.
LucidLaw is my attempt at the third option. Every figure on this site is quoted from the actual legislation, with the section shown, so you can check it yourself. No jargon. No account required. If your situation needs a lawyer, I'll say so.
It's early, and I'm building it in the open. If something here is wrong or unclear, email me directly — jarrod@jarrodosborn.au. I read everything that comes in.
How the legal information is checked
Every legal statement on this site goes through the same three steps before it is published.
- Read at the source. The rule is taken from the legislation itself, not from a summary, a blog or another AI.
- Recorded with its section. The section number and the wording of the provision are both kept on file, so any figure can be traced back and checked.
- If it can't be verified, it isn't stated. Where a source can't be reached or a point can't be confirmed, it is recorded as a gap and left off the site. No guessing, no filling in.
What LucidLaw is not. It isn't legal advice, and it isn't a substitute for a lawyer. It tells you what the law says and what your options are. Deciding what to do about your own situation is a different thing, and for anything serious you should speak to someone admitted to practise.
Where it's going
Today LucidLaw is a set of free guides covering South Australian tenancy and Australian employment law, plus a few tools that help you act on them. The plan is to broaden the coverage, and to build a referral network so that when you do need a professional, you're connected to the right one rather than left to search.
